TheMenu

The Blackfly menu is an exercise in creativity. To loosely quote Anthony Bourdain, “our menu may not be the road to world peace, but it’s a start.” Our original menu concept was to take the best recipes from all of the various fishing lodges in the Caribbean, including our own Blackfly Lodge in Abaco Bahamas, and make that the basis for what we would offer.
Our fish, shrimp, steaks and vegetables are as fresh as we can get. Our vegetables are harvested locally from the farms to the west of St Augustine where Henry Flagler promoted farming to feed his guests at the famous Ponce De Leon Hotel in the 40’s.
Authentic is the word for our menu, and it certainly also describes our kitchen filled with hard working chefs who love the steam, simmering smells and a hot line of stoves, grills and searing flat tops.

TheWines

The Blackfly wine list is extensive and our wine room is over one thousand bottles strong. Most of us here at Blackfly are pretty serious about our wine and our passion is reflected in our wine list. Of course we have a full complement of reds, whites and specialty wines including our strong desire to drink a good port in the winter…or any other time for that matter.
The Wine Room is the focal point of our colorful dining room and the soft glow of all of those earth toned brown, green and yellow bottles sets the mood for sharing a perfectly paired wine with your dinner. Your server will bring the list to your table along with your dinner menu and if you have any questions we will be able to help you find a bottle that will be the perfect fit. We’re not snobby about wine so don’t hesitate to ask any question. We all started out not knowing anything about wine and even the most sophisticated of us need a recommendation here and there.
To quote Anthony Bourdain about drinking, “Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”

Blackfly The Restaurant is a very important part of the iconic Blackfly Brand which includes the Vaughn Cochran Art and Blackfly Fishing Lodge in the Bahamas. Blackfly, known mostly in the world of professional fly fishing, has always represented the qualities of authenticity and the highest of standards, Blackfly The Restaurant is no different.

In 2012 the location on Anastasia Blvd. was not as established as it is now and the building needed a serious refit of character and aesthetic. The Blackfly branding themes were perfect for this project so a few months later with lots of creative energy and the addition of partner Vaughn Cochran’s art work adorning the walls, Blackfly The Restaurant opened its doors. Since opening, Blackfly has become recognized for its creativity and excellence in all phases of what makes a restaurant great.

If you are visiting St Augustine for a few days please visit our “sister” restaurant, the nationally known Collage Restaurant in the downtown Historic District. It’s always a good idea to call ahead for both of our restaurants or go to OpenTable.com for reservations online.
